Prof. Bassey O. Ekpo

Bassey O. Ekpo is a professor of Petroleum and Environmental Geochemistry and has 26 years of environmental/teaching and exploration experiences with Universities and major oil companies. His focus is on the design, coordination, supervision and management of petroleum exploration/production and environmental research projects. Skilled in geochemical fingerprinting– applied to oil exploration/production and environmental pollution studies. Experienced in sedimentary basin evaluation, versatile in cross disciplinary (exploration, production and environmental) geochemistry, capable of individual/team work, possess ability to work in cross cultural environment, skilled in application of geochemical techniques (Rock Evaluation Pyrolysis, Organic Petrography and Carbon Isotopy) to petroleum source rock evaluation, skilled in application of gc-ms techniques in determining reservoir continuity and/or compartmentalization, identifying mixed-sourced petroleum, allocating commingled production, recognizing production tubing failure and identifying the source of environmental contamination. Experienced in Environmental Impact Assessment (E.I.A.) Studies. Experienced in Waste Management/Auditing, skilled in computer – Word / Data Processing (Excel, Power Point, STATISTICA, SPSS, Computer Aided Designs) and skilled in Teaching and Learning. He is motivated by challenges and has the ability, flexibility and skills necessary to handle a challenging job. He has won several awards and honors over the years and published several articles and books in both foreign and local journals. He belongs to many professional bodies such as Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) and Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS).
